Peter Obi reinstated as Governor of Anambra State

Postby gloria » Thu Jun 14, 2007 1:03 pm

Umu nnem Peter Obi has been reinstated as the governor of Anambra State o! the Supreme Court ruled that his tenure ought to run from the day he took his oath of office(March 17, 2006), not May 29, 2003 when Dr. Chris Ngige, Obi’s opponent in the 2003 elections, had been sworn into office.

The court also said that INEC should not have gone ahead to conduct the April governorship election in Anambra State, when it was aware that Obi had already filed a case in court on whether his tenure had expired or not.
The court directed Mr. Andy Uba, the newly elected governor of the state, to vacate office with immediate effect.

O! A ga –adi kwa kpo kpo!

Weruch you are welcome bo!

I'm so proud of the Supreme Court these days, previously it was the ruling on atiku's candidacy (though i am not particularly fond of the fellow) now this. There's hope o! At least we can believe that it does pay to follow the gentleman's path [sometimes]

This one na another dimensiion. So what will happen next. What will Uba do now that his godfather OBJ is not in power. How is Yaradua going to start his tenure - will he obey the rule of law or will he be influenced by those that do anything to get their own way?

Apparently Yar adua is all for the rule of law, immediately the ruling was read, he instructed the IG of police and the Solicitor General of Nigeria to effect the ruling, i also understand Uba and his aides started packing up from government house at around 4pm yesterday.
